Following on from the success of the 2008 Michaelmas Festival preparations are well underway for another fun filled weekend this year. The festival takes place on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th September and promises to live up to it’s well deserved reputation as a fun day out for all the family from the very youngest to the very oldest.

In 2008 the festival committee pledged to raise funds to purchase a defibrillator and train up a team to operate it, this would be used for the benefit of the whole Graiguenamanagh community. The equipment is in place now and 15 people are fully trained so congratulations are due to everyone who helped in any capacity make this dream a reality.

If you are interested in booking a spot to demonstrate a traditional craft at this year’s festival or sell your hand made items please be aware that you need to contact Derry on 086-3661410 asap. Preference will be given to locally produced work and we are looking for an interesting variety of handcrafts and products. Puppet Show!

We are delighted to announce the Conor Lambert Puppet Show for the Michaelmas Festival.

Puppets!

Renowned puppeteer Conor Lambert will entertain us with his unique (Dublin) adaptation of ‘Punch and Judy’. A very naughty Mr. Punch is left with the task of minding the house while Judy gets busy with other important chores, Mr. Punch’s inability to take on the simplest of chores leads to hilarious consequences involving the Gardai! Lambert’s experience with comedy improvisation and stand-up only embellishes this 45 minutes of entertainment, bringing audience participation to a whole new level as he deals with individual comments from the audience with aplomb, ensuring no two shows will be the same with this puppetry favorite. Lambert’s 30 years of experience as a puppeteer prevail in this production with as much detail expressed in movement and manipulation as there is in the sharp witted dialogue. A must see for all the family.

2008 sees the revival of an ancient tradition when the Michaelmas Festival takes place once more in Tinnahinch. An action packed weekend of music, craft and traditional skills is planned for the 27th and 28th September.
